Before any participant reaches your portal, you can walk through the entire experience in the built-in live preview — clicking every navigation item, drilling into detail pages, checking every piece of branding — with zero audience exposure.
Opening the Preview
- From the Design editor, click the Preview tab at the top of the wizard.
- The portal loads in a fully interactive frame. What you see is exactly what participants will see after publishing — your chosen layout, branding, navigation, and every page component.
Changes saved in the Design tabs reflect in the preview frame automatically. You can switch between Design and Preview freely to iterate and check.
What to Test
The preview is fully interactive — click navigation items, drill into Data List rows, use back navigation between pages. Walk through:
- Every navigation link arrives at the correct page
- Data List components populate and display rows
- Row click-through navigates to the correct dynamic detail page with the right record loaded
- Data Detail components display the correct information for the URL parameter
- Buttons navigate to the correct destination
- Hero banners, KPI metrics, headings, images, and built-in widgets (Responses, Scores, Profile, Analytics Widgets) render as designed
- Your logo appears in the sidebar and on the login screen
- Login title and description read correctly in every configured language
Testing Access Control
Pages set to Sign-in required redirect unauthenticated visitors to the login screen. In the preview, check that gated pages trigger the login prompt and that any Public pages are reachable without a prompt. Observing the redirect is sufficient — you do not need real participant credentials to verify this behaviour.
Checking Mobile Layouts
Use your browser’s developer tools (or resize the window) to see the portal at phone and tablet widths. The sidebar collapses to a bottom navigation bar on mobile. Confirm that:
- Navigation items are accessible and tap-friendly
- Data Lists are readable at narrow widths (column overflow handled gracefully)
- Hero banner text remains readable on small screens
- Buttons are large enough to tap comfortably
What the Preview Reflects
The preview always shows your current saved draft. It is completely separate from the live portal — nothing is visible to participants until you publish. You can iterate and re-check as many times as you need before going live.
Pre-Launch Checklist
- Every page in the Pages tab is reachable — from navigation or via a list row action
- The correct page is set as the default landing page (where participants land after sign-in)
- Dynamic detail pages load correctly when navigated from a list row
- KPI metric cards display numbers (an error chip means a misconfigured entity type)
- Data Lists show columns and rows; row actions work correctly
- Hero banners, images, and buttons render as designed
- Logo appears in the sidebar and on the login screen
- Login title and description read correctly in every configured language
- Sign-in required pages redirect to the login screen when accessed without authentication
- Public pages load without a login prompt
- Navigation is readable and usable at phone screen widths
- No navigation item points to a slug that doesn’t exist
- Panel domain is assigned in the Branding tab (required before publishing)
