Overview

SurveyAnalytica lets you connect your own phone number from Telnyx or Twilio to send and receive SMS as part of your campaigns and workflows. Once connected, replies from contacts arrive directly in your conversations view.

Before you begin

• A phone number purchased from Telnyx or Twilio.
• API credentials for that number (see Step 2 below).
• A workspace inside SurveyAnalytica to assign the number to.

Step 1: Purchase a phone number

If you do not yet have a number, purchase one from your chosen provider:

• Telnyx — Search and buy numbers in the Telnyx portal
• Twilio — Search and buy numbers in the Twilio console

Make a note of the full number in international format, for example +14155551234.

Step 2: Get your API credentials

Telnyx

1. Log in to the Telnyx portal.
2. Go to Auth > API Keys.
3. Click Create API Key (or copy an existing key that starts with KEY...).
4. Copy the full key — you will paste it into the API Key field in SurveyAnalytica.

Twilio

1. Log in to the Twilio console.
2. On the home dashboard, locate your Account SID and Auth Token.
3. Combine them in the format AccountSID:AuthToken (colon-separated, no spaces).
4. Paste this combined value into the API Key field in SurveyAnalytica.

Step 3: Connect the number in SurveyAnalytica

1. Go to Account > Domains & Numbers and open the SMS tab.
2. Fill in the connection form:

Field	What to enter
Provider	Select Telnyx or Twilio to match your number.
Phone Number (E.164)	Your number in international format, e.g. +14155551234. Must start with + followed by the country code.
API Key	Your Telnyx API key (KEY...), or your Twilio AccountSID:AuthToken.
Display Name (optional)	A friendly label, e.g. Support Line. Defaults to the phone number if left blank.

3. Click Connect. If the credentials are incorrect an error message will appear — double-check the API key and try again.

Step 4: Assign the number to a workspace

Each connected number can be assigned to one workspace. Once the number appears in the list:

1. Use the Assign to workspace dropdown on the number card.
2. Click Save.

The number is now available when composing SMS campaigns or conversations in that workspace.

Webhook status

Each number card shows a Webhook Active or Webhook Not Configured badge that refreshes automatically.

• Webhook Active — inbound replies and delivery updates are being received correctly.
• Webhook Not Configured — SurveyAnalytica could not register the incoming message handler with the provider. Check that the API key is still valid, then try removing and re-adding the number.

Remove a number

Click Delete on the number card to disconnect it. The number remains in your Telnyx or Twilio account but will stop receiving inbound messages in SurveyAnalytica.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	What to check
“Failed to connect number” error	Verify the API key is correct and has not expired. For Twilio, confirm the format is AccountSID:AuthToken with no extra spaces.
Phone number rejected	Make sure the number is in E.164 format: starts with +, country code, then the number — no spaces or dashes.
Webhook Not Configured after connecting	Wait a moment for the badge to refresh. If it stays orange, remove and reconnect the number with a fresh API key.
Inbound messages not appearing	Confirm the number is assigned to the correct workspace and that the webhook badge shows Active.
