Overview

The Analytics module in SurveyAnalytica transforms your raw data — from surveys, campaigns, datasets, and contact lists — into actionable insights. It offers multiple views including tabular responses, visual dashboards, trend analysis, text analytics, pivot tables, AI-powered insights, and segmentation. Navigate to any survey, campaign, or dataset and click Analyze to open the Analytics Wrapper.

Analytics Views

The Analytics interface provides several distinct views accessible via the navigation bar at the top of the analytics area:

Dashboard View

The Dashboard is a fully customizable grid-based layout where you can arrange charts, metrics, and visualizations. Key features include:

• Drag-and-drop layout: Rearrange chart cards by dragging them. Resize cards by pulling their edges. The layout adapts to different screen sizes (responsive breakpoints for lg, md, sm, xs).
• Chart types: Bar charts, pie charts, line charts, area charts, stacked charts, donut charts, word clouds, tables, and more — powered by Highcharts.
• Add new visualizations: Click the add button to create new chart cards. Configure the data source, chart type, and display options.
• Hide/show cards: Toggle visibility of individual chart cards to focus on the metrics that matter.
• Auto-save: Dashboard layouts are automatically saved to both the server and your browser’s IndexedDB for instant restoration on return.

Responses / Tabular View

View all collected responses or data records in a tabular format. Features include:

• Column sorting and filtering
• Pagination with configurable page sizes
• Export to CSV or Excel
• Full-text search across all columns
• Date range filtering

Trends View

Analyze how your data changes over time. The Trends view supports multiple time granularities:

• DAY: Daily trend aggregation
• WEEK: Weekly trend view
• MONTH: Monthly aggregation
• QUARTER: Quarterly view
• YEAR: Annual trends

You can set the trend interval via the URL query parameter ?trend=WEEK or through the trend selector in the UI.

Text Analytics

For surveys and datasets containing free-text responses (FREE_TEXT, TEXT_BOX, MULTI_TEXT_BOX question types), the Text Analytics view provides:

• Sentiment analysis: Automatic classification of text responses into positive, negative, and neutral sentiment.
• Word cloud: Visual representation of the most frequently occurring terms.
• Theme extraction: AI-powered identification of recurring themes and topics.
• Text field selection: Choose which text fields to analyze from the available free-text questions.

Pivot Tables

Create cross-tabulations of your data. The Pivot view lets you:

• Select row and column dimensions
• Choose aggregation functions (count, sum, average, min, max)
• Drill down into specific intersections
• Export pivot results

Results View

A summary view showing key metrics and results from your data at a glance.

Predictions View

Access machine learning predictions directly within the analytics context. This lazy-loaded view connects to trained models and displays prediction results overlaid on your data. See the Predictive Analytics article for details.

AI-Powered Insights

SurveyAnalytica includes an AI chatbot assistant within the analytics interface. Access it by clicking the AI assistant icon. The chatbot can:

• Answer questions about your data in natural language
• Generate visualizations on demand
• Provide statistical summaries and recommendations
• Help interpret trends and patterns

Additionally, the Insights Wizard provides guided AI analysis that walks you through data exploration with contextual suggestions and automated chart creation.

Segmentation

The Segments view within Analytics provides both rules-based and AI-powered segmentation. This is covered in detail in the dedicated Advanced Segmentation article.

Filters and Date Ranges

All analytics views support global filtering:

• Date range filter: Restrict analysis to a specific time period.
• Question/field filters: Filter by specific question responses or field values.
• Cross-filters: Click on a chart element to filter all other charts to that selection.

Reports

From the Analytics view, you can create and manage reports. Click the report icon to:

• Create a new report from current dashboard state
• View existing reports
• Build custom report layouts
• Generate PDF exports

Sharing Dashboards

Share your analytics dashboard with team members or external stakeholders. The share functionality creates a shareable link or invites specific users to view the dashboard.

Downloading Data

Export your analytics data in multiple formats:

• Individual chart exports (image or data)
• Full response data as CSV/Excel
• Report downloads as PDF

Joint Analytics

When a model has multiple data sources configured (the dataSources field), the Analytics Wrapper automatically operates in joint analytics mode, combining data from multiple surveys, datasets, or campaigns into a unified view. This is detailed in the Joint Analytics article.

Data Source Types

The analytics module works with multiple source types:

• survey: Survey response data
• data: Uploaded datasets
• analytics: Joint analytics with multiple data sources
• campaign: Campaign message data from the common message table
